Paws & Effect is proud to operate as a veterinary technologist–led team, combining clinical knowledge with compassionate, in-home support.
Every service is designed and overseen by a Registered Veterinary Technologist, with support from carefully selected pet care professionals who are trained in our handling methods, safety protocols, and standards of care.
This allows us to provide consistent, thoughtful care—while supporting more pets and families who need a low-stress, knowledgeable approach.
Our Care Team
Elle (RVT/Owner)
I am a Registered Veterinary Technologist based in the Lower Mainland and the founder of Paws & Effect, a veterinary technologist–led pet care team offering thoughtful, in-home support for pets and their people.
My passion for animals began early in life. I grew up alongside three beloved family pets—Ringo, an Australian Cattle Dog mix; Leia, a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix; and Scout, our gentle tabby cat. But my love for animals was shaped just as much by where I was raised as by the pets in my home.
I grew up in a small, close-knit bay on the Indian Arm, surrounded by nature and only a handful of families. One of my greatest influences was my elderly neighbour, Don, who treated my sister and me like his own grandchildren. Don had a remarkable gift with animals, forming trusting relationships with local wildlife—stray cats, geese, raccoons, ravens, owls, and even swans who visited him regularly. Watching those relationships taught me the importance of patience, trust, and meeting each animal where they’re at—values that continue to guide my work today.
I began volunteering in animal hospitals at age 14 and later worked as a Veterinary Assistant while completing my post-secondary education. I graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Douglas College in June 2020 and passed my VTNE that November. Since then, I’ve been practicing as an RVT and continually expanding my skills through continuing education, including earning my Fear Free Certification and advancing to an Elite Fear Free Veterinary Professional.
Compassionate, low-stress care is the foundation of everything I do. My special interest in animal behaviour—shaped by both my clinical experience and life with my own reactive dog, Jasper—has given me a deep understanding of how overwhelming certain environments and procedures can be for pets and their families.
This understanding is what led me to create Paws & Effect: a service designed to bring veterinary-informed, fear-free care into the home.
My goal is to ensure every pet feels safe, understood, and supported—whether they require medical care, grooming, or behaviour-sensitive pet sitting—all within the comfort of their own home.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, painting, and spending time outdoors—whether that’s camping or relaxing at the beach whenever the weather allows.
